Technical provenance is evidence — not a legal ruling.
No determination of ownership
ProgreTech CodeSeal is a technical provenance registry. A CodeSeal registration, first-observed timestamp, matching-source result, signer claim, or history report does not by itself establish copyright, authorship, ownership, infringement, licensing rights, trade-secret status, or lawful possession.
First observed means first observed by CodeSeal
The earliest CodeSeal record is the earliest matching record currently known to the CodeSeal registry. It does not prove that no earlier copy, repository, private development record, unpublished work, or other evidence existed outside CodeSeal.
Supplemental forensic use
CodeSeal information is intended to supplement repository history, contracts, employment records, copyright registrations, forensic analysis, compliance investigations, legal audits, and other competent evidence. CodeSeal does not replace a court, copyright office, contract, license, or other lawful venue for resolving ownership disputes.
Notification events are not accusations
A notification that later submitted source matches an earlier CodeSeal record indicates a technical registry correlation only. It is not a finding of copying, misconduct, infringement, or unlawful use.
